The iconic Barth company is reinvented
Tastes are reimagined for the present
Yet the message of love remains timeless
The Barth company was founded by our great-grandmother Margalit. In 1933, as the Nazis came to power, she fled Germany and immigrated to Israel, and took a crash course in chocolate-making to be able to literally feed her family.
Margalit didn't know how to speak Hebrew, but the pastries and sweets she created became the language of love: savory wafers, candied orange peels dipped in chocolate, nougat-filled pralines, carrot cakes dipped in chocolate.
And so Barth began. This European young woman's efforts in her tiny Tel Aviv kitchen, became a small family business, that today -- 90 years later -- is an Israeli confectionery enterprise with products distributed both domestically and globally
